The Pinewood Derby® is an annual event for Cub Scouts. Cub Scouts build wooden cars with their families and race them down a gravity-driven track. The Pinewood Derby promotes character development through sportsmanship. Cub Scouts also are encouraged to be creative, take pride in their work, and learn STEM principles including mechanics, physics, and engineering. Plus, the Pinewood Derby is fun for the whole family! We have an "open" category and encourage parents and leaders to build cars, too!

Scouts are issued a Pinewood Derby kit prior to the event. Additional car kits and accessories can be purchased at the Louisville Scout Shop. We hold a 'Car Cut Out' Day to make sure all are able to participate!
